Jane Bligh An American Tall Tale eBook A Call
The verbal feeling of the prose is rooted solidly in the American tradition of storytelling around the fireplace on a cold winter night. I can easily see parents using this series as an intriguing introduction to American geography as well as history. Having a good map and reference materials nearby would make this a great geography lesson. Wish I'd had it when my kids were younger. Who teaches geography these day? Ha! It's up to the parents now.Product details

Jane Bligh An American Tall Tale eBook A Call Reviews
What a joy it was to stumble across this beautifully written "tall tale" about importance of now maligned coal in the in the blooming of America. A. Taylor Call's descriptive words flow from his pen like musical notes. This is a little treasure to read to yourself, to your children and grandchildren, and return to again and again when you are simply in search of fine writing.
A product of the author's passion for history, geography, westward expansion, and the tall tale genre, this tall tale sheds light on the coal fields of the continent, as seen through the journey of a Virginia woman with a dream! The author, who calls himself a "Southern Yankee," embraces all the regions of the continent and enjoys discovering facts and details of the places so often forgotten by modern folks. As a knowledge of geography and history slips away from younger generations, this book hopes to give them a glimpse into why the land developed as it did as explorers moved west.
